Methodology description
Data sources. We systematically searched the gray literature and five bibliographic databases, MEDLINE®, Embase®, PubMed®, CINAHL®, and the Cochrane Library, through April 20, 2017. Review methods. Eligible studies included systematic reviews, meta-analyses, randomized controlled trials (RCTs), and nonrandomized interventional studies with concurrent controls. Case reports and series were also considered for describing adverse events. Studies were evaluated for risk of bias using the Cochrane Risk of Bias instrument, and the evidence base was assessed using the methods guidance established by the Evidence-based Practice Center program.

Notes
This report was originally part of a larger report: The effectiveness of indoor allergen reduction and the role of bronchial thermoplasty in the management of asthma, and the larger report was split into two standalone reports. Data was entered retrospectively by uploading data in file Word format using the Manager Reports tool. There are two files, one contains evidence tables for the included studies, and one contains the risk of bias and strength of the evidence tables.
